Dr. rer. nat.
Mass Spectrometry
Staff Scientist

Witek obtained his Ph.D. in 2014 after working on plasma membrane proteins in plants using mass spectrometry, protein biochemistry and microscopy techniques at the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Plant Physiology in Potsdam (Germany) under the supervision of Waltraud Schulze.

In order to concentrate on mass spectrometry instrumentation, he in 2015 moved to the Proteomics Facility at the Max Planck Institute of Immunobiology and Epigenetics in Freiburg (Germany). There he gained experience with the proteomic analysis of animal–derived samples –in particular human, mouse and fruit fly– under the tutelage of Gerhard Mittler.

In 2019 Witek joined the Core Facility for Mass Spectrometry & Proteomics at the Max Planck Institute for Terrestrial Microbiology in Marburg (Germany) managed by Timo Glatter, where he expanded his portfolio of expertise in mass spectrometry–based proteomic analysis into the procaryotic realm.

Since January 2022, he is a member and resident mass spectrometry wizzard of the Institute of Translational Proteomics and the Core Facility Translational Proteomics at the Department of Medicine at Philipps–University in Marburg (Germany).
